Connecting communities who care

Children with disabilities and their communities would both benefit if society focused on what those children can achieve, rather than what they cannot do, according to UNICEF’s annual State of the World’s Children report released globally in May 2013.

First and foremost, Nappy Run is envisioned as an extensive and intensive campaign to create greater awareness and insight among the people of South Africa about all fundamental issues, circumstances and rights relating to children with disabilities.

As well as creating awareness for our country’s most marginalised and vulnerable group of people, Nappy Run aims to appeal for and provide the most important incontinence management product for children with disabilities – the diaper, or nappies as they are more commonly known!

Nappy Run started in 2011 and achieved a collection of just over 100,000 nappies. In 2012, the target was doubled with over 200,000 nappies donated and a successful event held at the Joburg Zoo. In 2013, the introduction of Nappy Rands combined with the continued call for donations of packs of nappies hopes to increase the accessibility of all citizens to support this special group of citizens.
