What We Do
Nappy Run, started in 2011 by the National Council of & for Persons with Disabilities (NCPD), is an annual national awareness and nappy donation-drive campaign. The purpose of the campaign is primarily aimed at educating the public on the violation of the rights of our country’s most marginalized and vulnerable group of people – our children with disabilities. Furthermore, Nappy Run appeals to the public for online donations which go towards the purchase of nappies – a vital incontinence-management product for children with disabilities.
Nappy Run runs from 3 October to 3 December and concludes on International Day for Persons with Disabilities (IDPD). The campaign falls within South Africa’s Children’s Rights Month in October, and Disability Rights Awareness Month (DRAM), which takes place every November. The campaign peaks with an official 5km fun run event at Johannesburg Zoo in November each year, coinciding with National Children’s Day. This year the fun run will be held on Saturday 5 November between 07h30 and 10h00. Registration from 06h30. Tickets available @ R100(adults) or R60(children over 14) online and at the gate. Entry to Zoo included in ticket price.
